Pinterest and Photoshoots

17 Nov

I realized yesterday that the formatting of my blog is messed up. Not sure how to fix this but I apologize for the inconvenience. is an amazing invention. Its the procrastinating college girls’ dream! If you’re not on it, get on it. Its basically an online corkboard where you can post ideas in different categories, share things with your friends, and look at ideas from random people that you don’t know. It almost gives me justification for all the blogs I follow 🙂

Since I don’t have a lot of immediate work I need to be doing and I’m 24 hours away from being on Thanksgiving break, I spend a lot of time on pinterest 🙂 I look at it at home, while watching tv with my roommate, on campus, during breaks in between classes, and at work with my coworkers and we get into funny discussions about things that we find. I also have my Christmas list on pinterest. Its awesome! Ok, I’m done with my pinterest rant now…

On another note, fun and exciting things are going on in my life. I’ve been hired a few times this month for photoshoots. (If you’re reading this and think, ‘I need to get some inexpensive family Christmas/Holiday photos taken or I have a senior in high school/college that I would love to have some photos taken for their graduation,’ let me know because I’m inexpensive and almost done with my semester so I’ll have time to shoot and edit 🙂 ) I was able to do a two part graduation session with one of my closest friends in the beautiful fall setting of North Campus and we had a lot of fun (photos to follow but here’s a sneak peek!)

isn't she pretty!!!

the leaves were gorgeous!!!

I also had another excuse to bake last night 🙂 (not that I actually need an excuse). We’re having our annual Thanksgiving potluck at work today so I made the incredible chocolate cake from the Snickers cupcakes with a coffee frosting. I think they will be delightful 🙂

– my obsession with glitter!!! is a full glitter dress too much?!

– cool website for cupcake liners

– another awesome baking website

– you should go check out my friend Marilisa’s blog

thats all for now…hope you’re having a fantastic thursday!

Tuesdays with Halie – Day 1: Snickers Cupcakes

15 Nov

Almost every tuesday, I have the pleasure of spending time with my friend Halie. She is a freshman at UGA this year. Its hard to believe that we’ve only known each other for only a year but its true. I’m so grateful to have her in my life. She is loud and crazy but I love her spunk. We have so much fun together and if you’ve ever driven anywhere with us you have probably witnessed our crazy friendship.

We love baking together. So most tuesdays, thats what we do. I’m starting a new frequent installment to my blog that will document my baking adventures with her. They may not always happen on tuesdays due to the crazy inconsistent schedule of college students but the title reminds me of that book Tuesdays with Morrie so I think I’ll stick with it.

Every time we bake, we try to find creative, unique, complicated recipes. Last week, we chose Snickers cupcakes. They were divine. My favorite part was the chocolate cake and i think i might duplicate that cake without the super rich candy filling and caramel frosting.

It was a super fun day in the kitchen. Messy but also high energy complete with a dance party 🙂

I wish I could claim this recipe as my own but unfortunately it is not. Here’s the recipe.

Sadly, we won’t be baking today, but we are hanging out and I’m sure I’ll have something to share since its always eventful. And we will be this weekend so stay tuned!

1 Nov

Eventually I will go back in time and post all the things I missed. But for now, I want to share about my Fall Break, which is really only one day off but still it was one day I didn’t have to go to my comm law class (which by the way, I made an A on the test I was freaking out about last week 🙂 MAJOR accomplishment).

My original plan for fall break was to go down to Jacksonville for the GA/FL game but my plans fell through so one of my closest friends, Amelia, and I decided to have a girls weekend in the Atlanta area. Well it started out with a fun girls only birthday party in Athens. We did our nails, painted cards and watched Baby Mama. I passed around my new glitter nail polish that I’m now obsessed with. It reminds me of New Years, which I can’t wait for! And I got to skype which is always fun 🙂

Friday, we took advantage of the break and slept in. Left Athens around 12:30 and headed up to the mountains in Dahlonega, GA to go winetasting at Frogtown Vineyards. It was absolutely gorgeous outside and finally felt like fall. I’m going to let the pictures speak for themselves…

I'm obsessed with vineyards!

What a great view!

She's so cute!

we were being silly, twirling through the vineyards and skipping around

It was so fun just hanging out with Amelia and planning fun things for next semester. I’m really grateful for how close we’ve become in the last few weeks.

After that, we headed to Roswell to spend the weekend at my dad’s house. It was the perfect getaway. We got to hang out and talk with Peggy, go shopping at the Avenue, watch Georgia finally beat Florida on my Dad’s fancy new 60-inch tv and go out to eat at Inc. with my parents. We also got to see old friends like Carly and Lauren at church and have lunch with Lauren. We miss her so much! It was the perfect, relaxing weekend. And although it would have been a great memory celebrating with all the Georgia fans in Jacksonville, I have no regrets.

And that brings us to yesterday. It was seriously the best Monday ever. I found out I made A’s in both my test and my how-to story. All that hard work is finally paying off. And I got to wear one of my new outfits. I’m not normally an outfit post kind of person but thanks to Peggy and Amelia, I found new stylish clothes for work that I’m really excited about.

Top: Loft, Skirt: Loft, Tights: no idea, probably target or some department store; Shoes: Rocket Dog

I've never owned a pencil skirt, its a pretty big deal!

In comm law, we had a Halloween costume contest that due to work I did not take place it but thats all we did in class and got out early which has NEVER happened before. Work was pleasant and I had a great time with God, continuing to learn about peace and how righteousness gives us peace which leads to joy.

Jessica and I went to the gym for a spontaneous workout and now my arms feel like they may fall off but it feels good. And I got to bake with Gayle. Made some orange-dyed almond cupcakes with vanilla buttercream frosting. Baking always makes my day good 🙂 (I’ll post pics later)

Have a great week! Only 18 days til Thanksgiving Break 😀

Going to the Chapel

22 Sep

So the end of my summer involved many weddings. Two of my good friends got married and I had the privilege of being a part of both of them.

The first took place on July 22nd. Daniel and Ashley Sanchez got married in San Antonio and it was a blast but also a blur. Having been at camp all summer, I was already exhausted. The night before I left (if i could even say that since we left at 4 am) I was up until 3 finishing a video for the HOPE for Kids thank you luncheon to its donors that helped make camp possible. The whole rest of the week I was running on coffee and the Holy Spirit, cause there is really no other explanation for how I survived physically. But I really do feel so blessed to have been a part of it. Ashley was my best friend in high school and we’ve been through a lot together. Here’s some pictures from that weekend:

After our toast...we wrote a poem to try to avoid crying and talking too long.

i just love her 🙂

Oh, and I also shot their engagement shoots in the beginning of the summer…heres a few:

The second wedding I was able to be a part of was a former roommate of mine. Andrew and Kelsey Chase got married on July 30th. It was truly an amazing celebration consisting of many of my best friends. Here’s a few pics:

Both of these weddings were such joyous occasions. And I’m so grateful to have been a part of them!

I Just Miss Her

17 May

In tonight’s episode of Glee, Sue’s sister, Jean, died. They had a funeral for her to say the least, it was depressing. I’m also in the process of packing up my things to move out of my apartment and with that comes sorting through all of my things. Normally I get all emotional from reading letters written from people, especially my mom. But today I found letters that I had written my mom, and really old pictures of me and her that I’ve never seen before. And this combined with that episode of Glee have made me really emotional.

Two cards stuck out to me especially. One was a ‘I’m Sorry’ card and one was a birthday card. Some of the things I wrote were things that seemed ironic and I still feel today:

“Our relationship reminds me of the Gilmore Girls. They are so close that when they are fighting, life stops being fun. You are the most amazing woman I know and you are a great example for me. I thank god everyday for Him giving you to me. My world would fall apart without you. I keep making mistakes and you lift me up and help me fix what I have messed up.”

I also inserted the lyrics from the Backstreet Boys song “The Perfect Fan”: ‘There is never a day that passes by, I don’t think of you. You were always there for me. Pushing me and guiding me, always to succeed. You showed me, when I was young just how to grow. You showed me. Everything that I should know. You showed me, just how to walk without your hands. Cause Mom you always were the perfect fan.’

“You comfort us, make us laugh, talk and listen to us, make fun of us and support us, which are all things mothers should do but you also have this great quality about you that I can’t describe but it makes you you and I love it! I can’t imagine life without you and I don’t want to. You are my role-model, stronghold, inspiration and best friend.”

I really loved Sue’s speech she wrote about her sister and feel like a lot of those sentiments apply to me as well.

(These are basically her words with a few modifications so they apply to me ;)):

I miss my mom. The smell of her shampoo. The way she always convinced me to go to another little store with her or enjoyed simply watching a movie on her bed. When you love someone the way I loved my mom they’re a part of you. Its like you’re attached by an invisible tether and no matter how far away you are you can always feel them. And now every time I reach for that tether I know that there’s no one the other end and I feel like I’m falling into nothingness. And then I remember my mom. A life led with no enemies, no resentments, no regrets and i’m inspired to get up out of bed and go on. I miss my mom so much. It feels like a piece of me has been ripped off. Just one more time I want to hold her. Just ten more seconds to hold her. But i can’t and I won’t and the only thing keeping me from being swallowed whole by sadness is that my mom would kill me if I did so now I’m just going to miss her. I love you mom.

Maybe one of these days i’ll find time to scan in some of the picture I found today. Hope this wasn’t too depressing. Just remember to hold on to your loved ones and appreciate them, flaws and all.

Cupcakes & Portraits

11 Mar

Its officially spring break!!! I’m so stoked!

On sunday, I’m heading down to Florida with my roommates to spend all week relaxing on the beach. Its going to be fabulous.

Just have a few random things to share:

– Love this wedding I found on one of the many wedding blogs I flow. I really like the neutral look of the bridesmaids dresses combined with that deep, vibrant purple in the decor. The reception looks beautiful. Love all the lights and the place settings.

The next few pictures are updates of the end of 2010:

Sage Mehaffey and Samuel Dudley's engagement in November!

Family photo shoot in Roswell

To encourage one of my best friends, I decided to make some cupcakes today, surprise surprise! 😉 I experimented with Blueberry Cupcakes with Maple Brown Butter Frosting. I was a little nervous cause I’d never made anything like this before but it turned out really well. Even my roommate Deanna, who is the pickiest cupcake eater, loved it!

here's the recipe and picture from the website
